Celebrating the life of

Louise Parker Shuman

June 21, 1914 - May 17, 2009

Louise Parker Shuman

Louise Parker Shuman, 94, died Sunday May 17, 2009 in Alexandria, Virginia with her sons and extended family by her side and joined her husband, Wallace in Heaven. Mrs. Shuman was born June 21, 1914 in Screven County, GA. She married Wallace B. Shuman on April 10, 1937 and they were happily married for 39 years until Wallace passed away in 1976. They were the proud parents of two sons, Wallace Wally and Robert Rob. After Wallace passed away Louise continued to live independently in Savannah for 29 more years until March, 2005. With the help of her two sons she moved to Alexandria, Virginia in March, 2005 to be closer to her oldest son, Wallace. She quickly acclimated to the area and loved her new home. She continued to enjoy family and new experiences for the remainder of her life. Louise attributed her ability to have survived three major surgeries in 2004, and to have regained her health, to Dr. Richard Roth who took care to over-see all surgeries and ensured she was well attended to. She always sang his praise. Louise lived a long and happy life where she touched many people through her volunteer work as a swimming instructor affiliated with the Red Cross and in her career as a nurse. She compassionately helped others with no expectations in return.
She was a lifelong member of Aldersgate Methodist Church where she was devoted to the Lord and all her many friends there. Louise was loved deeply by her husband and two sons and everyone who knew her. She had a long and happy life and was filled with God and family in every way.
All of Louise's friends and her immediate family, Wally, Dorinda, Rob and Maria will have many years of wonderful memories and will keep her close to heart, in their minds and in prayer.
She is also survived by one grandson and his wife and two great-grandchildren.
God Bless and keep Louise, our dear Mother.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve Meguiar, officiating.
